Reporting Malicious Sites: Taking Down 60,000

As cyber threats continue to grow, staying ahead of the game is crucial to keep people safe online. Jeroen Gui used automated searches and reporting to take down 60,000+ malicious sites globally, including phishing, malware, and fake webshops. Here’s what he has to say about his process and also how Abusix’s Abuse Contact Database helped him.

Overcoming Challenges

As someone who spends much time online, cyber threats are getting more serious daily. As a computer science student and cybersecurity enthusiast, I’m dedicated to taking down malicious sites and safeguarding online users.

I’ve reported and taken down over 60,000 malicious sites worldwide in the past year. From phishing to malware and fake webshops, I’ve prevented hundreds of people from getting scammed and companies from being hacked. How did I do it? By scaling up my reporting power!

I know what you’re thinking. “How do you even find all those malicious sites?” Trust me. Finding and reporting malicious sites it’s not easy. Cybercrime is getting more sophisticated, and it can be tough to differentiate between legitimate and malicious sites. But I overcame this challenge by staying up-to-date with the latest threats and using various tools and resources to identify and verify malicious sites accurately.

Partnering with Abusix, Inc.

One powerful tool that made my life much easier was Abusix’s Abuse Contact Database. Their comprehensive and up-to-date database of contact information for hosting providers made it much easier for me to report malicious content quickly and efficiently. Hosting providers and domain registrars must ensure that they are not allowing their platforms and services to be used for malicious purposes.

Partnering with Abusix, Inc. was a game-changer in setting up more efficient and reliable automation for my reporting activities. Their exceptional customer service and willingness to help have been invaluable in my reporting efforts. They even provided me with guidance and support whenever needed, making the whole process much easier and smoother.

The Challenges Ahead

Of course, there are still challenges ahead. Hosting providers and domain registrars can take days or weeks to respond to takedown requests, especially when the malicious content is geo-restricted. And cybercriminals keep coming up with new and sophisticated ways to trick people, making detecting and reporting malicious content even more challenging.

But despite these challenges, I firmly believe that we can make the internet safer for everyone. So, I encourage you to take action and support efforts toward online safety. Whether it’s by reporting suspicious content, supporting projects that fight online crime, or educating others about online security best practices, every little bit helps.

Conclusion

To summarize, it is imperative to remove harmful websites for the sake of online safety, and it is the responsibility of each individual to aid in this mission. As a cybersecurity enthusiast and computer science student, I have seen the impact of my efforts in taking down malicious sites and preventing them from doing harm. And with the help of companies like Abusix, we can stay ahead of cybercriminals and keep people safe online.
