A DNS query is a demand for information sent to a server.
In most cases, a DNS request is sent to ask for the IP address associated with a domain name, but in the case of an email blocklist, the query could be a request for information about an element found in an email, such as an IP address, domain, URL, email address, file, etc.
Additionally, the request might be in the form of a hash of the element.
