Season's Greetings!
We look back on a very exciting year 2011: We extended our business, released new products, established an effective sales strategy, established Internet standards, and abusix is constantly growing. We reached several important milestones in 2011 which made abusix a grown-up company with a sustainable business model.
There is more to come in 2012: We just moved to new premises and strengthened our team. We expect 2012 to be a successful year with new customers, products and opportunities.
We wish you a Merry Christmas with your families and friends - We are looking forward to working with all of you again and making the Internet a safer place!
News About the Spamtrap System and Additional Spamtraps in Northern America
Some time ago we have started upgrading our overall spamtrap system and after some time in operation, we are happy to announce that it is scaling as expected: We are now able to handle even more traffic than before. The abusix spamtrap system will be continuously and steadily improved, and furthermore extended. So we did recently with the spamtrap systems for Northern America to reach a better coverage of the spam messages we receive.
spamfeed.me already offers a high quality spam datafeed which is used by more and more customers to improve their own technical systems which detect spam. Since spam is a global issue - and thus the security market - it is no surprise that we are pushing the detection of spam to an extensive global level. It is not only the mass of spam which makes the difference of spamfeed.me, it is especially the diversity of spam sources and messages we are able to deliver to our customers.
As we listen carefully to our customers and their needs it is obvious to us that we are on the right path. If there are specific needs you as a potential customer would like to have addressed just let us know!
MAAWG San Francisco Retrospective & The New spamfeed.me Product Lines
The Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group(MAAWG) Meeting in San Francisco has been amazing. We had just introduced SecurityZones as our new sales partner for spamfeed.me and we see spamfeed.me being recognised and established on the market as a high quality reputation data provider. Recently, we also introduced the new shaped product line which has been compiled from market needs. Talk to us if you are interested in the new product line and tell us about specific needs if your mileage should vary.
Abusix staff has been asked to contribute in some of the MAAWG working groups which is a great honour. Especially topics like handling incoming abuse complaints and incident management in general are rising up and getting more and more into the focus and we are quite happy to be able to contribute.
Furthermore the abusix staff attended the Mobclix & Groupon Annual WWDC Mashup Event which has been a welcomed relief from the usual daily business. We saw some cool startups there and got to know very talented people.
Currently we don't have any abusix T-Shirts left due to the high demand, but we already ordered a new set.

MAAWG Orlando Retrospective
The abusix team attended the MAAWG meeting which took place in Orlando in February. From our point of view it was a very successful meeting. Outgoing spam and outgoing network abuse is seen as an major issue which has to be addressed right now.
abusix is offering solutions which exactly help solving these issues, such as the Global Reporting and the Abuse Handling Framework on the receiver's side. And it seems the community is starting to realize that the most efficient way to address the ongoing threats in the Internet is pursuing the threat to its source.
Furthermore we received great feedback on spamfeed.me. The design of the website and the whole product conception were approved by the people. If you are also in need of customized spam datafeeds, let us know!
We just opened and already received press coverage
The leading German IT and Internet News Portal Heise.de wrote this article (in German Language) about spamfeed.me
Thank you to all of you for the great feedback and your support!

News about the redesign of the Global Reporting Project
"The report of my death was an exaggeration", Mark Twain
There were some rumors in the community about what happened to the
Global Reporting Project in the last days. We believe it is the right
time to let you know what's currently going on.
First of all thank you very much for all the emails and calls we
received from all of you caring about abusix and the Global Reporting
Project. We received great feedback and we feel that we are doing a
great job.
As most of the people know abusix has a huge spamtrap network. This
network is used to conduct the so called "Global Reporting Project" and
to send spamtrap reports to all network owners all over the world.
To fund the project on and offer the free basic reporting service, we
recently started to sell customized data feeds to vendors.
Furthermore we are planning a premium service exclusively for ISPs which
are trustworthy and we are currently testing extended methods of spam
and network abuse reporting.
As a result of all this we had to extent and redesign some components of
the abusix technology which perform the global reporting to keep up the
security and stability of the whole ecosystem.
The trap network is up and running, and we are receiving enormous
amounts of trap hits each day. Since we are highly committed to the
quality of the service we offer, we perform the fine tuning carefully.
So you can expect the public global reporting to push up steadily to the
normal mode.
We believe that everybody out there who gathers reliable data about
network abuse should start sharing and reporting it. Globally and
continuously. If you need help to set up a system capable of reporting
spam and network abuse let us know, we are happy to help wherever we can.
If there are any questions left, feel free to get in touch with us!

Virus Bulletin Spam Reviews Use Abusix Spamfeeds to Compare Antispam Products
Virus Bulletin just implemented the Abusix spamfeed to conduct its surveys: From the current test onwards, Abusix will provide Virus Bulletin with a second spam corpus. The Virus Bulletin's 'VBSPAM Comparative Review' is an in-depth examination of the efficiency of Antivirus Products which gives a broad overview. The Abusix team is proud to contribute to the quality of the reports.
The abusix spam traps are existing for more than 10 years and are in action since 2008 and are primarily utilized to form the backbone of the Global Reporting Project which informs ISPs in charge of problems in their network. The Global Reporting Project is steadily looking for contributors to start reporting as well.
Get in touch with us if you want to know more about the available spamfeeds and the Global Reporting Project!
